Stonehaven Studios is proud to present the 2nd Annual Afrofuturist Art Fairs, a week-long community arts showcase taking place across Burbank and Inglewood in celebration of Juneteenth. Each event is thoughtfully designed as a guided experience, featuring curated programming from start to finish. We encourage audiences to arrive on time for free prizes, engaging with all our offerings, and fostering deeper connections.

This year, we are expanding our vision to make the Afrofuturist Art Fairs even more accessible and impactful. Funds raised will help Stonehaven Studios cover essential costs like catering, marketing, and venue rentals, support equitable artist stipends, as well as ensure that more patrons and performers can participate. By supporting this fundraiser, you are helping us create a vibrant, inclusive space where creativity and community thrive. Rooted in the principles of Sankofa, Afrofuturism's cultural aesthetics braid the intersections of art, science, and technology. These immersive, once-in-a-lifetime experiences invite everyone into a philosophy that marries artistry with social progress.

BLACKTOPIA

BOOK COVER COMPETITION

This year we’re hosting an official cover art competition for BLACKTOPIA Part III, the latest installment in our Afrofuturist Science-fiction series set at the turn of the 22nd century. In Blacktopia, Destin Imani, a young black scientist, discovers an undersea, matriarchal society. Working together with the next generation of leadership, they travel a post-American solar punk world to defend Blacktopia from saboteurs, both inside and out.  We are inviting artists, designers, and visionaries to help us bring this next chapter to life.

About BLACKTOPIA:
Set in a solarpunk society shaped by multicultural innovation, resilience, and imagination, BLACKTOPIA explores a technologically advanced network of mutual aid networks where culture, identity, and power intersect across subterranean and surface worlds. This is a universe where ancestral memory meets speculative possibility.

Our Aesthetic Vision:
We are seeking bold, original cover designs that reflect:

  • Afrofuturism as a framework for Sankofa: honoring cultural legacy and expanding its relevancy.

  • A balance of cybernetic technology, solarpunk architecture, and ecological evolution.

  • Thoughtful, intentional combination of vibrant color, landscape(s), and symbolism

  • A cinematic sci-fi tone grounded in afrocentrism and utopian values.

  • Visual iconography that feels metaphorically expansive, layered, and philosophical.

Have fun! We want to celebrate every idea, from futuristic cities, digital landscapes, cosmic elements, augmented bodies, ancestral echoes, and reimagined Black futures. Even if you aren't selected for this year's cover, we would like to exhibit your work at our Afrofuturist Art Fairs on June 15 and June 20, 2026.

Selected artists will receive:

  • Official cover credit for BLACKTOPIA Part III

  • A monetary honorarium of $100.

  • Social Media promotions across our platforms and marketing materials

We can’t wait to see your vision of the future! Thank you for taking the time to create with us.
